Smoked Cream Cheese with BBQ Bacon Jam
Smoked cream cheese is trending this summer, so don't miss out! Take it a step further with @thesaltycooker's rich, caramelized topping. Enjoy!
Ingredients
1 lb of bacon, thinly sliced
1 large onion, thinly sliced
Pinch of salt
1 tbsp Weekend BBQ by Outside Table
2 tbsp honey
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
Large block of cream cheese
Add the bacon and onions to a stock pot over med/low heat. Cook until the onions are caramelized and the bacon is completely cooked. Remove the bacon and onion mixture, drain the fat and add the mixture back to the pot. Add the rest of the ingredients. Cook for 20 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat and place in a container.
Place the block of cream cheese in a cast iron skillet on a smoker at 200 degrees for two hours. You can also heat the cream cheese in the oven at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Pour the bacon jam over cream cheese. Serve with crackers or flatbread.
